Halloween Fun

My ever so handy Father-in-law cut out this bean bag toss pumpkin for our Trunk or Treat. He even made a stand in the back for me. I think it turned out really cute and I hope it will be a hit tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pirate chest, jewelry box, you name it!

My Father-in-law is staying with us for a couple of months. He is retired and enjoys woodworking. He made these "treasure chests". He is an excellent craftsman. You can use these as gifts, jewelry boxes, photo boxes, and for the pirate lover in all of you an awesome treasure chest. The are made of pine and have been stained in either a honey pine or dark walnut stain. The knob on the front is inter-changeable. The length is 11 inches x 8 inches x 7.5 inches. If you are interested in purchasing one, he is selling them for $15 each. You can contact me on my blog or by e-mail olivasclan@cox.net.

How We Met

I have really enjoyed the flashback Fridays on some of my friends blogs and thought that I would join in. My scanner is acting up, so no pictures today. (We didn't have digital cameras back in the old days). The young adults used to play volleyball every Wednesday night at the stake center. I had been attending for a while with my friends because we absolutely love volleyball. I became friends with a girl named Martha and we had so much fun with her. She talked about her brother, who was coming home from his mission. We saw him a few weeks later. I thought he was cute, but he was a very aggressive volleyball player and would spike the ball really hard, sometimes just missing us, I thought to myself ,"What a jerk". Well he started playing more and more on my team and I thought, well he seems like a real nice guy, but we had found out that David was moving to Michigan with his family (we had only been dating three weeks and he decided to stay here and live with his brothers family, his parents weren't very happy, but accepted his decision). Anyways David and his best friend started coming with us to movie nights and we would see them at the dance. We used to have a running joke because David and his best friend Angel would stand by this one bush at the ASU institute and would just "observe". Well one day while on my lunch break from work I got into a car accident, I totally rear-ended this girl. I was so sore and had whiplash, that night was the dance and my friends convinced me to take six advil and come with them. I was really out of it. I was sitting there at the dance just vegging when this dominican baseball player came up and was totally hitting on me. This guy would not leave me alone and kept begging for my phone number. I kept telling him no, but he was very persistant. David being the gentlemen that he is and also having served a mission in the Dominican Republic came to my rescue. He was my knight in shining armor! We danced and talked the rest of the night. He told his sister later that he wanted to ask me out and she got mad because her other brother had married one of her friends. He went ahead and asked me out and we of course went to dinner and the movies (his favorite thing to do). We hit it off and I found out that this big intimidating guy was the biggest teddy bear. David's sister wasn't very happy at first. She said she was now going to recruit ugly friends! She warmed up to the idea and still loves me, I think :) My best friend started dating his best friend and we have all been married now for 15 years. We each have five children as well. My best friend is also my cousin, so David and his best friend are now somewhat related :) My cousin and I used to joke that we needed to marry guys that got along, so that we could always do stuff together. I guess we accomplished that :)
